Huilai is a coastal region, where the cultivation of rice and the breading of fish flourish. In recent years, in order to develop and propagate Huilai’s tourism industry, the county government began the branding campaign for Huilai’s featured cuisines. In 2020, the selection of Top 10 Huilai’s Traditional Cuisines was held, and finally select 10 Huilai’s traditional cuisines to represent Huilai, namely, Longjiang pork feet, Longjiang green bean cake, Jinghai bean cake, Huilai fish ball, Huilai shrimp roll, Tangtian meat roll, Zhoutian dried tofu, Duck-neck rice cake, Laodianyou sweet soup, wintersolstice dumpling.

Huilai’s Agriculture Products

Huilai county is located in the southwestern coast of Jieyang, Guangdong. Its unique geographical features and plenty of natural resources making it the No.1 county of eastern Guangdong region in terms of cultivated areas of litchi, pineapple, abalone and seafood. In recent years, Huilai county government is pushing forward the development of agriculture products and implementing the national strategy of rural revitalization. It had hosted several exhibitions for the propaganda of Huilai’s five featured agricultural products, which are abalone, pineapple, litchi, Longjiang pork feet and fish ball. Huilai is a famous cultivation area of excellent abalone and the largest abalone production county in Guangdong province. It has the fame of the best abalone in southern China. Now the county has more than 170 abalone farms, and breeding water of 1.28 million cube meters. The annual production of mature abalone reached over 2 million kilogram and the annual output of abalone seeds hit 4 billion, which created an annual revenue of 1.6 billion yuan. Huilai pineapple is originated from the Latin America. The overall plant area of pineapple in Huilai has reached 60,000 mu, with the annual output of 100,000 tons and the annual revenue of 500 million yuan. More than 35,000 mu of pineapples are planted in Kuitan town, Huilai county, whose high altitude pineapple is quite famous. In September 2015, Kuitan town was awarded the title of China’s Grade-A demonstration town. Huilai has the largest planting area of litchi in the eastern Guangdong, reaching 170,600 mu. Huilai is currently planting more than 40 varieties of litchi. It is also a demonstration county of the national lychee industrial technologies. In addition, delicious Longjiang pork feet and yummy Huilai fish balls are very popular common street foods to be known by gourmets around the world.
